LA 280 DESIGN COMMUNICATIONS 1 SECTION VIEWS (20 points)

DUE: Wednesday October 6, end of class

On one 11x17 sheet, formatted vertically, draw four cross-sections through your “Exploding the Plan” model. The models are three inches tall, so imagine that they are built at 1/8” = 1’ scale.

To set up your sections, draw a 1/2” margin around your sheet, and position four rectangles (each 3” tall) equally within the remaining sixteen inches of space. Within each of these rectangles, draw horizontal lines 1/8” apart across the sheet, each line representing 1’ in elevation.

Construct your sections within these guides, and once you have drawn the section lines accurately, add scaled figures, vegetation, water, and/or other landscape elements. Use this exercise to “design in section,” adding elements to the drawing that might not show up in the model. You may add annotations as you see fit to explain elements in the drawings.
