LA 280 DESIGN COMMUNICATIONS 1 FINAL DOCUMENTATION AND PORTFOLIO (110 points)
Gabi Zemaitis, Fall 2018
You will have time in class on Friday, December 3 to begin assembling the documentation of your work from the semester. In this portfolio, you’ll include work from both LA 233 and LA 280.
Use InDesign to create the portfolio in whatever page size and orientation you feel appropriate. Letter or Tabloid size is recommended.
DOCUMENTATION GUIDELINES
Photographing Drawings
Photograph the drawing pinned up with even, low-contrast lighting
Desaturate and adjust contrast in Photoshop before linking into portfolio
Save files in JPEG format
Photographing Models and Relief Collages
Choose a single location to photograph all your physical models in one sitting
Select high-contrast daylight or set up a lamp to mimic the sun
Photograph models from multiple perspective directions as well as a top-down view
Adjust coloration and contrast in Photoshop before linking into portfolio
Save files in JPEG format
Scanning
Use a flat scanner to digitize sketches and hand drawings at 11x17 or smaller (scanners can be found in the Mumford Lab, the TBH Print Lab, and any of the university libraries)
Desaturate and adjust contrast in Photoshop before linking into portfolio
Save files in JPEG format
SAVING YOUR FILES
Before starting the portfolio, save all your files by assignment name in JPEG format, even if they were originally PDFs. JPEGs are the best format to work with in portfolios, as they flatten to a small file size and save all your lineweights correctly.
