Wednesday 3/22: Work day (no in-person meeting)

  • Present two massing strategies (3D diagrams) and two entry sequence diagrams (plan or 3D diagrams)

  • Select one (or a hybrid) to develop in plan and elevation for the 29th

Monday 3/27: Work day (no in-person meeting)

Wednesday 3/29: Based on discussions from Friday the 24th, decide on one strategy to develop for your project.

  • Deliverables for this day are one ground floor plan and one primary elevation (1/16” scale on a printed 24x36; both drawings can appear on the same board)

Monday 4/3: Visit to the Chicago Architecture Center; desk crits

Wednesday 4/5: Guest lecture from UIC School of Education PhD Candidate Mary Rose O’Shea; desk crits

Monday 4/10: Desk crits and work time

Wednesday 4/12: Visit to the Museum of Contemporary Art

FINAL REVIEW DELIVERABLES (minimum requirements)

  • Floor plans at 1/16” = 1’

  • One critical section at 1/16” = 1’

  • One entry sequence diagram, plan or axon

  • One program diagram, axon

  • One exterior rendering

  • One interior rendering

  • One diagram or palette of materials, architectural and landscape (see examples here and here)

  • One physical model with context, 1/32” = 1’ (a well-crafted final model)

Presentation outline:

  • Briefly summarize your initial text and themes addressed in your concept phase (1-2 minutes)

  • State how you have defined “literacy” through your project in 1-2 sentences. This should act as your thesis statement for the project.

  • Describe your site conditions and the most important spatial/environmental elements you wanted to address in your design (1 minute)

  • Walk us through your major design/organization moves, program, circulation, and material selections (7-8 minutes)

  • Assignment 1 files (initial sketch ideas), each file as its own JPEG

    • File naming: LastName_Assignment1Sketch1, LastName_Assignment1Sketch2 and so on

  • Review 1 files, each file as its own JPEG

    • File naming: LastName_Review1FileName

    • Minimum of 3 photographs of your model(s), using the same naming convention above

  • Site Analysis files, each file as its own JPEG
