This interdisciplinary studio identifies a gap in health care service and access in the United States, addressing postpartum and early family care through architectural and landscape design. The semester will include a research and precedent study phase, a site planning phase, and an architectural design phase, and will support multiple visits to Chicago. Students will gain access to medical and design professionals in the city, and produce ideas for a care facility near the Northwestern Medicine campus in Streeterville.

This is the third studio in a sequence on public health offered by Professor Dharwadker, and work from the class will be collated for publication in 2024.
